Terms and Conditions- Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd

Health & Welfare

Your dog’s health and welfare are our top priorities throughout the grooming process. If we feel your dog is showing signs of fear or stress, we will use alternative approaches to help keep them calm, which may require extra time or additional sessions. Grooming may also reveal existing health concerns, and we will let you know so you can seek veterinary advice if needed. Although accidents and medical issues are extremely rare, by agreeing to these terms you authorise us to arrange emergency veterinary treatment if necessary.

Neglected/Matted Coats

Pets with severely matted coats need extra attention. Matts in a pet’s coat grow tight and can strangle the skin or eventually tear it open.

If a dog is brought in with a matted or neglected coat, we believe the kindest option is to shave the coat back completely, we will do so in line with the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which protects animals from pain, injury and suffering. An additional £15 charge will apply to cover the extra time required and wear on equipment.

When this is necessary, it may lead to skin irritation or other issues, and in some breeds the coat may not grow back in the same way. Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd will not be liable for any effects that may result from clipping a matted or neglected coat.

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd will provide an aftercare guide. Pets that are shaved are also prone to sunburn and should either have sun cream applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. In some cases, your pet may also exhibit brief behavioural changes.

Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, you will be given a consent form to sign to acknowledge that you agree to this procedure and any risk involved.

Fleas/Ticks

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd strives to be a flea/tick-free salon, if your pet has a flea or tick infestation, we will ask that you reschedule your grooming appointment once the flea or tick problem is under control. Pets with a flea or tick infestation carry a risk of anaemia, infections, tapeworm and other health problems.

We recommend that you contact your veterinarian for advice on the best treatment for your situation.  If fleas are found on your dog during the groom, we will complete the appointment where possible. We will bathe your dog in a flea shampoo. We then will have to treat the salon; this will incur a £20 charge onto your grooming bill (even if the groom isn’t completed it will still be charged on top of the full groom price) as any appointments after will need to be cancelled.

Anal Glands

We do not empty anal glands, as this is a veterinary procedure. Please contact your vet for advice.

Ear Plucking

We do not pluck ears unless loose hair comes away naturally while the ears are being handled. Ear plucking can be painful, may irritate the ear canal, and can contribute to ear problems.

Sick Animals

Please do not bring your dog to their grooming appointment if they are unwell.

Health or Medical Problems and Senior Pets

It is your sole responsibility to ensure your pet is fit for grooming and to inform us of any health issues your pet/s has before the groom commences. Ensure all your pets, especially your elderly pets and any pets with health issues are checked prior to bringing to the salon. We can refuse to groom if we feel this will not be in the interest of your pet/s health to carry a groom out. Grooming fee may still apply.

Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful especially for a senior pet or a pet with health problems and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. In the best interest of your pet this contract/agreement will give Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd permission to obtain immediate veterinary treatment for your pet to our authorised veterinarian, or the nearest veterinarian that is available. It is agreed that all expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the pet’s owner.

Pregnant pets

Whilst every care is taken with every animal, Pets that are pregnant are not accepted for grooming.

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd has the right to refuse to groom if we think it is not in the interest of your pet or their babies.

Current Vaccinations

By using our services, owners verify their pets are up to date with vaccinations. Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd reserves the right to ask for proof of vaccinations if we have reason to believe otherwise. Please be mindful that diseases caused from not vaccinating can be extremely contagious to other pets and in some cases can kill. Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd wants to provide the safest possible environment for your pet to be groomed in, so please ensure you do not put others at risk.

Aggressive Dogs

We reserve the right to refuse to groom any dog if we believe there is a risk of injury to the dog or our staff. Please tell us before the appointment if your dog has any history of biting or aggression. Under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, owners are responsible for bites and injuries caused by their dog. We do not provide services for dogs listed under this Act.

If your pet should badly bite, scratch or injure the groomer, due to not informing us of any behavioural issues, the owner agrees to be responsible for any and all related medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income and equipment damage. A £15 fee will be charged on top of the full groom cost (no matter how far along) if any of the above occurs due to misinformation.

Accidents

When grooming, there is always the possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is very sharp, please be assured we use extreme caution and care in all situations here at Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd, but sometimes accidents do happen. Possible problems that could occur include cuts, nicks, scratches and quacking of the nails. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling, moving around or displaying aggression (It is not limited to this).

We make every effort to ensure your pet is groomed as safely as possible, but if your pet does not accept the process, it can be dangerous to continue the groom if it is unsafe for your pet. Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd uses Leucillin spray which is the most powerful, non-toxic, non-irritant antiseptic available for animals and we also use Trimmex Powder to clot blood on any accidental quick cuts on the nails.

Double Coated Dogs Policy

Some dog breeds have a double coat, made up of a topcoat and a soft undercoat. These layers grow at different rates and lengths. The shorter undercoat sheds naturally and usually grows faster than the topcoat.

Clipping can permanently damage the topcoat and disrupt the natural hair-growth cycle. In some cases, the topcoat may take up to two years to fully regrow.

Freya’s Professional Grooming Services Ltd advises against clipping double-coated breeds and will only do so when it is in the dog’s best welfare interests.

Puppies

We offer puppy grooms once your puppy has completed their vaccinations. Appointments are usually booked at least one week after the final vaccination.

Salon Exclusivity

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd operates by appointment only. Our quoted price includes one-to-one grooming to help provide a calm, low-risk environment. More than one dog will only be in the salon at the same time if they are from the same household and we agree this is suitable, such as when dogs are not used to being apart.

Photographs and Videos

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd will use, unless otherwise instructed, any videos or photographs of your pet/s taken whilst at the salon. You allow, unless otherwise instructed, Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd to use your pet/s name/s and that any images or videos can be used at any time for marketing, advertising or promotional purposes in any form or format. Pricing

Quoted prices are based on a well-maintained coat that is free from knots, matts, and tangles, and on a dog that is well behaved, non-aggressive, and an appropriate size and weight for its breed. Additional charges may apply for matted or poorly maintained coats, flea infestations, or nervous and timid dogs that require extra time. All charges must be paid before leaving the salon. Payment can be made by cash or card.

Running Late

Your appointment is reserved for your pet. If you are running late, please call us and let us know.

Your appointment time slot will be held for a maximum of 15 minutes. If you arrive later than 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment time it is considered as late

Appointment times are allocated for each individual dog to allow enough time to complete the groom without rushing and to avoid overlap between clients.

Please arrive at the salon at your scheduled appointment time. If you arrive early, you may not be admitted straight away; if you arrive late, we may be unable to complete the groom. Customers who are 15 minutes or more late will be treated as a ‘no show’ and charged the full appointment fee.

Please understand that when you are late it affects our ability to provide timely and quality service for all our other clients that day.

Late Collections

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd has limited space, and we are unable to keep your pet for extended periods of time if you are running late. We do not offer day care facilities and if you do not collect your pet at the agreed time this hugely affects the service and appointments to other clients that day.

We offer a 30-minute grace period but after 30 minutes we reserve the right to charge a £10 late pick up fee and £5 per every half hour after that you are late collecting your pet for pet sitting services.

Please understand that timing is essential for us to be able to provide top quality service and we want your pet to be comfortable when with us. We will always give you half an hour reminder to collect your pet and we will tell you before leaving a time to collect. If this needs to be extended for any reason, then Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd will let you know immediately.

Cancellations and Missed Appointments

We understand that appointments sometimes need to be rearranged. Cancellations made with at least 48 hours’ notice will not incur a charge.

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd reserves the right to charge a grooming fee for any missed appointments or appointments that are cancelled.  Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before the appointment will be charged at 50% of the groom fee. Failure to attend, or cancelling with less than 24 hours’ notice, will result in the full groom fee being payable, except in extreme circumstances.

Appointments missed or cancelled without notice could have been offered to another customer that day and if we do not have any notice, we are unable to fill that appointment slot. We do understand that on occasion things need to be changed but please be courteous to us and others and give us as much notice as possible.

Refusal of Services

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd has a right to refuse service for any reason we deem necessary, if we do not feel we can safely groom your pet without causing a danger to itself, the groomer or others. We also will not tolerate any abusive or violent behaviour from customers towards our groomers, and any such behaviour will result in an instant refusal and ban of the service.

Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd will use muzzles if necessary and any restraining equipment such as slings or straps to ensure your pet does not cause any injury to itself or the groomer.

Grooming may be stopped mid groom if we feel there is danger to your pet or our groomer, grooming fees may still apply.

Customer Information

Your details are held in confidence by us, as a reference to the safe grooming of your dog.

Matted Dog Disclaimer

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal. Dematting can be painful and harmful to a dog’s welfare. If your dog arrives with matting that would take more than 20 minutes to remove, we are required to clip the coat short or refer you to a vet, who may do the same.

At Freya’s Professional Dog Grooming Services Ltd, we will only attempt to dematt a very small area of the dog, approximately 5% of the coat, or about the size of a 50p coin. Matts are most found behind the ears, under the armpits, around the groin, and near the tail.

Shave Down Waiver

After a complete shave down there can be skin and hair coat problems particularly with the double coated breeds or those referred to as fur- bearing rather than hair- bearing dogs. I have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions as set out by Freyas Dog Grooming Services Ltd.
